usc 10.
went to usc 10 this weekend. it’s been a while. it’s so weird, though, that the rave scene is pretty much dead now. what happened?!!! usc used to be HUGE. this usc is smaller than the usual freak night. what the hell? on the plus side, however, it seemed like everyone at usc was actually of decent age so there weren’t any 12 year olds rolling around all over the place, so that was cool. it also seemed like everyone was pretty much a “seasoned raver”, so that was pretty cool as well. on the flipside, people just aren’t as friendly as they used to be… although i brought like 4 pieces of candy to GIVE AWAY to people but i ended up exchanging one with this chick… she gave me one that said, “HAPPY PANDA” lol? i just didn’t have the opportunity to really give them away lol, didn’t see anyone who was a “first time roller”. man, it was so NOT CROWDED. crazy.
brian baker (spastik) came up from eugene, oregon and graced us with his presence and got to see just how boring my downtime life is lol.
also saw some people who have not been seen in just about FOREVER, including lamson, john kim, sam poulton, and richard lee. and yuki, who i haven’t seen since japan. so that was interesting…!! i kind of dissed john kim hard by accident… cause he was like, let’s go dance! and i was like, yeah! we’re going to the drum n’ bass room, and i think he thought that meant, “DON’T COME!” or something, and he just kind of stayed behind. lol? i felt bad :/
when we first got there, someone pulled the fire alarm in the left half of the stadium (near the main stage and the dnb room), so the firefighters came and we had to wait outside for while. blah. but it was somewhat entertaining.
the music was okay. i had wanted to go see rabbit in the moon, but rabbit in the moon was actually kind of disappointing. mostly it was just the dude changing costumes and dancing around a little on stage. there were a couple of cool things, however. one costume he had was a bunch of glowsticks strapped to his body (those thin ones that are like necklaces), and then he’d throw them out in the crowd. and then he’d crowdsurf (there was a LOT of him crowdsurfing) and come back with 1/2 the glowsticks gone. hah. they were bright yellow and bright blue. sadly, i was in the first row and didn’t even get anything! what the hell is that!!! with the glowstick costume he also got into this giant ball which they blew up and crowd surfed in the ball (like a hamster?).
hmm, what else. they had some really cool technology. so there were like 6 giant screens playing video at the same time. at one point, the dude came out with a microphone and was singing, “look into the eye.” and on the screens were eyeballs. the guy had this stick in his hand with like, a screen attached to it. it was pretty cool cause on the back of the stick screen thing was a camera, so that occasionally it would show the faces he was making behind the screen on the big screens. the stick also had a camera in the front, so that occasionally it would show the crowd on the big screen, interspliced with the images of the eye. i dunno, kind of interesting. he also came out with this giant black suit with light bulbs on it, and whatever was on the screen would be reflected by the suit. i don’t know how that works but it was pretty freaking badass… there was one broken light on the suit, though, that was always green no matter what the colors around it were changing to. HAH!!
the drum n’ bass room was alright. hive was who i wanted to see and he was decent, but dowlz closed the night and i actually liked his music the best. unfortunately, i didn’t get to stick around for his set because lenny was geting borededededed. so we left. too bad. right when the music was getting good. evidently evol intent was good too, but i was watching rabbit in the moon at the time. the night seemed pretty short… but not to lenny i guess hah!
but uh… in the drum n’ bass room there were these two scrubs who were having sex in the corner. i didn’t see this but lenny and brian saw that the dude was trying to put it in and the girl was reaching behind her to help him put it in (she had her back to him). i just kept looking at them, though, cause she was making faces, and eventually they left. not sure if they finished, rofls, but they were both pretty much disgusting. that’s so sick. man. there was also this like, relatively old looking dude making out with a chick who looked like she was like 16, and i kept staring at them too. there were also these 3 etards lying on the floor getting lightshows from 3 people at once. haha. nate took a video of them… they looked so godamn happy. LUCKY. the light show princess also gives the trippiest light shows, man, i can’t believe she still does them. she tripped me out, and i was sober. in fact, as she was doing her light show, all these people came around and a crowd gathered to watch her hah.
it’s surprising most people i know don’t drop anymore. pretty good, i guess. i guess that time has come and gone…!! sad to see it go, but i think my short-term memory thanks me.
it’s funny — i told jeanette when she called yesterday that i went to a rave… and she’s like, “did you drop?” and i said no, and she was like, “did you drink?” and i said no… she was like incredulous that someone could go to a rave and not drink or drop haha. she’s like, “wow, so you actually go for the music? that’s cool…” like it’s such a rarity. i suppose it is a rarity. the group i’ve been going with lately more or less has been sober, though, minus some alcoholizing. but that’s cool.
speaking of… nate brought alcohol into the venue IN A PLASTIC BAG?? hahaha? i don’t know how that makes it better or where he stored it, but it’s a funny thought.
