ugh television is so pathetic.
so i watch “so you think you can dance” and on it, yesterday, wade robson (super cool dude) choreographed this anti-war routine. everyone was fine with it, and they commented on it as a good routine, etc. etc.
but today is the “aftermath” — the show where people get kicked off, and evidently, one of the judges, mia michaels, was wearing a jacket yesterday that had an upside-down military emblem and that greatly offended the military. so she had to make a public apology. evidently, that’s what she said on television, but REALLY, the sentiment behind it was that non-military personnel should not be able to wear military-emblemed things (read an article at us magazine). this shit is so stupid.
and now all of a sudden they’re saying wade’s routine was BORING by the fifth time they saw it (why is it okay to say that today but not yesterday? how rude), and it was inappropriate because it was an anti-war routine and no one should be anti-war, etc. etc. what fucking bullshit. this is what happens in a society where the powers that be govern everything you do, i suppose. suddenly he can’t create this anti-war dance because it is such a dangerous thing, and oh, all of a sudden “no one is FOR war… but different wars are fought for different reasons so we should tolerate people’s opinions” yet they cannot tolerate his opinion to create a dance that is anti-war. it’s just stupid.
maybe the fact that it was on fucking fox had something to do with it. what trash.
