the concept of thrift.

i’m in california right now, for a couple of days. i’m going to james’ wedding today. for it, i purchased a $15 dress from buffalo exchange. i told my mom that and she freaked out. see, i knew this would happen because it has happened before but it accidentally slipped out. she’s like, “you don’t need to treat yourself like that!” thinking that i’m like living in poverty and reluctant to spend any money on myself or something. i told her thrift stores generally have clothes i like to wear more often. she found that hard to believe and thinks the whole concept of buying thrift store items is degrading. LOL.

i think it’s a weird asian thing. my mom gets super pissed whenever i buy clothes from value village or goodwill, but then she tells me i’m wasting money when i bust out $90 for a jacket from the gap. we can’t win.
