i’m listening to… facing new york’s pre-release debut album, facing new york and daphne loves derby’s pre-release album, on the strength of all convinced.
12:45 am
[friday, 06/17] - went to eat ethopian food with lenny @ assimba. it was quite the um adventure. they give you this weird ass spongy ass bread that kind of has a sour taste. i dunno, it was good at first, but after eating the leftovers, i don’t enjoy it too much!!! it kind of gave me acidic burping afterwards - that was probably the only negative points part. :[ someone was talking about a cleaning lady who worked at a (really really rich) dude’s house. high-tech stuff they have! apparently, they give people collars which look like pearl necklaces and stuff, but are really electronic keys… so they have to be cleared to go through different rooms in stages with those keys. weird. they also have stuff like plasma televisions that are used to mimic paintings. so one day it’ll have the mona lisa on it,and the next day it’ll have the scream or something. very interesting.
[saturday, 06/18] - andy [crossett] came over with “secretary,” and we watched that. it’s a movie about sadomasochism between a secretary and the lawyer she works for, and somehow ends up in a love story (and i can’t decide if this love story is unbelievably beautiful, or just demented). i think it’s a great movie - a lot of people dislike it because it is weird, and definitely had you saying WTF throughout it. but the scenery was nice, the cinematography was cool, and the humor was sarcastic and subtle… very much of the humor just had to do with the actor and actress’ tone of voice, and it just shed a lot of humor and humanity on the whole sadomasochist idea.
i expected something much darker just because s&m was involved, but in fact, although the people were definitely creepy and quirky, it seemed relatively normal. afterwards, picked up cynthia and we went with a bunch of other people to watch jennie spin for the first time at the capitol hill arts center. weird venue, which was kind of like a high-school gym connected to a restaurant, lol. they were so ghetto. they were supposed to start @ 9, and jennie was supposed to play in the side room. ended up starting @ 9:30 in the main room because the sound took soo long to se up, and the side room DIDN’T HAVE TURNTABLES. WHAT THE FUCK. so disorganized. it was nuts. but she spun pretty well - only one noticeable mistake, but whatever, first time. naha was alright, but don’t know how to dance to breaks anymore… the side room was malificent and there was a couple of awesome dnb songs but then they just got super jungly and crap, and it was impossible to dance to. blahblah. and then afterwards we went to the “spot” (the former spot, anyway) and a bunch of people dropped, and i watched them, and it was WHATEVERS - had a good convo with derek, though, just about art institute, and life, and work, and boring shit, but it was cool cause he doesn’t usually talk toooo much, but hey, e does that.
[sunday, 06/19] - went to the fremont fair with alex, farm, arlen, anthony, and his cousin kiet. it was alright. got a free book for matching up some countries with the proper languages from those countries, so that was cool. it was an advance copy of a book called “the burn diaries”… and it’s pretty much exactly “my” type of book.
so that’s frickin sweeeet. later that night a bunch of people game over and hsu-ken brought over “shark attack 3: megalodon” (we’re one of the only two people there who have seen it)… AND IT WAS GLORIOUS. one of conversations from it: “i’m exhausted.” _ “me too, but i’m wired. how about i uh… take you home and eat your pussy?” no fucking joke. first time we saw it, everyone was silent for a minute afterwards, just thinking, ‘did that really just happen?!’ i <3 repeating that line to people, cause everyone is just like, “what the fuck? really?” or “did someone say that to you?” god, i’d hope not.
[monday, 06/20] - met up with my interns mason, jim, and tiffany at around 5. HAD GOOD TIMES. UNGA BUNGA. they’re going to help me buy ads. they all seem really enthuisiastic - and genuinely so - about it, so i really hope that they’re legitly going to help. it seems so easy when it’s all written down on paper, so i really, really hope that it works out grandly. ^__^ at night me, alex, and anthony went to eat @ kiku’s… and i had to make the most difficult decision of my life regarding food choices, OMG. TRAGIK. but at least it was free. everyone owes me money. bitches!!!!!! at night i just picked up cynthia and we met up with a bunch of random ass MSE people at golden gardens. BEEN SO LONG SINCE I’VE BEEN THERE. first time i went there was when we shroomed for the first time, and we stood on the over-bridge (wtf?) as the train passed by below us, and with all that open water and mountains and beautiful scenery of golden gardens, it was just… AMAZING. probably the best shrooming moment ever. that night was so so so great… sigh, good memories. ^__^ the bonfire turned out alright, it was just pretty relaxing and fun to watch things burn, and fun to watch will (eagle scout) create one. wewt.
