friday - april 13th, 2001
officially the first day of spring break but i don’t even get to sleep =( have to wake up too early to go to the airport and sit for thirteen hours on the crappy cramped airplane with nappy ass food. i HATE the smell of airplane food. it freekin reeks. on the way there i got to watch two movies… one was “vertical _”. i forgot the second word, but it was about mountainclimbing. hella good movie! looks like it’d be fun to make. and oh yeah, chris o’donell is a cutie.

well because china is a day ahead, we’ve lost a day on the plane. doesn’t that stink!? we arrive at the pudong airport late @ night so we take a taxi to our hotel in shanghai and pretty much jes sleep.

sunday, april 15th, 2001
we go from shanghai to hangzhou bai riding this minivan… it’s not the most comfortable ride because we have too much luggage and stuff… so we had to put it on the seat next to me and it kept falling on mee and stuff. hmmm not so fun, yah? that night we checked into a “bing-guan”, a government-owned hotel (a normal hotel is called a “lui-guan” or “fan-dian”. anyways, this bing-guan is supposed to be SO expensive so when mee and sherry opened the door we jes friggin laughed because it wasn’t impressive @ all. but it was expensive because it was bordering this lake, which was the biggest part of hangzhou anyways. they have a lotta stories and myths and stuff that originated from that lake… they’re all kinda psycho, but hey. =P after we got comfortable (aka, watched an hour or so of hbo), we went out to dinner. okay this dinner had a thing called “zhui-xia”, or drunken shrimp. they put these living shrimp which are still hoppin around and stuff into alcohol and yoo eat it while it’s still hoppin around and slowly, slowly dying. hmmm i was the only person who didn’t eat it. =P and later we went bowling @ the hotel… dood, they got better bowling alleys than us -_-; stupid america that thinks it’s so great… =P the only bad thing about hangzhou and certain parts of china (shanghai doesn’t really have this) is that they have the squatting toilets still! bleh ~ hecka smelly and junk. good thing i don’t ever have to pee that much… hmm i’m sure yoo don’t want to kno all that.

monday, april 16th, 2001
we had a breakfast buffet at the hotel… it was uh good i guess? later we went on a boat around the lake… it was really pretty… and clean too. china is really clean! it’s not like i imagined @ all. ^^* and i also bought this hella skandalous tank top for dahye cuz it looked cute… but now i think it’s too small for her. =O well i’ll give it to her anyway, hehe. we went bowling again @ night cuz there was nothing else to do… well, there was this karaoke place but i didn’t want to go because i would have been the only one singing since sherry and emily don’t exactly sing chinese songs =T

another meal @ the breakfast buffet. we drive four hours to go to shuzhou because the driver dOod gets lost. he’s this young guy… 23. yoo kno in china it’s a law that the guy has to be 25 in order for a couple to get married? i don’t kno what i think about that. and i think in cities people can only have one kid but two in the country. that or i’m confused bai what they told mee =P yah well after driving for TOO long, we go to shuzhou and do nothing but jes look @ this garden. it was pretty, i guess. it was funnie tho… we heard a korean tour group talking and uncle stewart was like, “vivian teach mee something in korean and i’ll talk to them.” and so i told him to say, “ahnyoung hasaeyo (kinda like hi?).” and then he was saying it to himself and his korean lady walked bai and was like, “nae, ahnyoung hasaeyo,” and gave him a little bow and he was all surprised and stuff. hehe… it was funnie. anyways @ night, instead of going to a fancy restaurant, we went to a tea house. oooooo very cool. they give yoo different kinds of tea, and then it’s kind of like a buffet with snack foods ^_^ and this lady downstairs was making tea pots… so after eating i went down to make a pot… or attempt to. when that didn’t work out, i made mai ‘boifrend’ outta clay. he was pretty hot man! but he’s all dry, crusty, and fallen apart now. bOohOo. =( i’ll scan a pic when i get the chance ^_^ oh yeah speaking of guys… i think guys in china are friggin hot. they’re much hotter than guys in taiwan dude! o.O

today we leave hangzhou. first we go to a tower… eh, nothing special about it. but yoo climb all these steps… i think there’s like nineteen floors or something but we got lazy and only walked to the seventh or something. actually, we got scared cuz on the fifth floor there was this hella hella scarie ass monk jes sittin in the middle of this room. it was a statue but it was hella scarie cuz it was the only floor that had it and it looked hella realistic. BLEH!! ke pa ~ * anyways, after the guy drove us to shanghai and we checked into our apartment. yah ~ we were staying @ an apartment instead of a hotel! everything was like a hotel - they made your bed and stuff - but yoo had appliances, and a kitchen, and two bedrooms. very kewl. but there weren’t enough beds so mee and sherry slept on cots in the living room… good for television watching. ^_^ later that night we jes went out shopping on the old waitan area.

thursday, april 19th, 2001
today we went shopping again, but @ tanzhi instead of @ real stores. i dunno how to say tanzhi in english =T mee and sherry bought this thing where this guy writes your name in chinese and writes it hella kool… after we got it we compared ours to everyone else’s and it was pretty kewl because the guy we found was the best artist out of them all! =D and we’re not even jes trying to make ourselves feel good - it’s really true. this one canadian girl was there and he was trying to talk to her in english, and he was showing her this name he wrote in english which was the name “patia” or something, and so he was spelling the name out for her and she said in a hella sarcastic way, “yeah, hello, i can read english.” and then he’s like, “i’ll make price cheap for you,” and she’s like, “yeah, you better make it cheaper.” what a BITCH man. i hate those kind of people. yoo go to china and then yoo act like they owe yoo something? cheh ~ at night we went to the newer part of the waitan (it’s split into a new and old part) and went up the highest tower in asia or something… it looked pretty kewl but it’s kinda pointless… and it is the most stupidly constructed building inside ever. and that was the worst constructed sentence ever. oh well. the tickets were expensive man… they were like 120 RMB, which is about 15 USD. hella money. and things in china are cheap man! after that we jes ate and took the subway to the other side of the waitan… the subway in shanghai is so nice. it’s hella clean and new and frikin fast. better than our BART.

friday, april 20th, 2001
mee and sherry got our hair cut and dyed red this morning. it was pretty fun, altho exhausting. i think in total we spent about four hours there. but it was kewl cuz our hairstylists and the girls were cool. i dunno if yoo guys kno but if yoo get your hair cut in china, hong kong, taiwan, etc. yoo get massages and these nice ass hair washes along with it ^_^ and so we got all that done… this girl washing mai hair thought mee and sherry were twins cuz we were wearing the same jacket that day. she was saying how @ first she thought we were twins but then she looked at our faces and then was convinced we weren’t… but when she looked at our heights and stuff she thought we were again. hehe. at first i was kind of scared of the hairstylists cuz they were all way frooty, but mine was the least frOoty and the other frOoty one who cut sherry’s hair turned out being pretty kewl too. they were from hong kong and stuff… and we like learned their life stories and stuff cuz we were talkin to them a lot i guess? it’s pretty kewl… they’re kinda old and they go to the disco pubs every night… and they live in shanghai but fly to hong kong every month. the guy was sayin how shanghai is a better place to live but hong kong is the best shopping place. boi do i agree with that >P yeah and later the lady doing mai haircolor was hella hella cool and nice ^_^ yup. we went and did some more shopping @ night - jes mee, uncle stewart, and sherry - cuz it was raining like a mofo. figure of speech - mofos don’t really rain.

saturday, april 21st, 2001
in the morning auntie ruby, auntie emerald, and uncle stewart went to zhouzhuang to see these “officials’ summer resort” but mee, sherry, and emily jes stayed in the apartments and lost brain cells watching televi until one in the afternoon. when they got back, we went shopping some more, blahblahblah.

sunday, april 22nd, 2001
today… took the plane home. it was only a nine hour flight! watched “family man” with nicholas cage and “what women want” with mel gibson. “what women want” is actually quite entertaining. i think i’m starting to like romantic comedies more =O believe it or not. heh ~ well anyway now i’m jes sittin here doin some stuff to pass the time until i get to sleep @ night. i would sleep now but then i’d never get over jet lag adn i need to go to skool tomorrow morning. can’t wait to sleep ^_^
