japanese culture influenced by other cultures

blah… yesterday I went to Japanese class and mai teacher handed out this thing… I’m just gonna type up part of it. Luckily I type fast.

“From the Asuka Period (A.D. 552-645) through the late Heian (end of the 12th century) period, the Chinese language completely penetrated the Japanese.

The same thing, I would suggest, is happening today with English. English is in the process of being completely absorbed, and its entire vocabulary is becoiming available for use in Japanese. Today, when new Japanese words are made up, they will come from English (or to a lesser extent, from some European language), no longer from Chinese [note… holy shit, this guy is supposed to be so dayam good @ English but his grammar is horrible!! I even added some commas in there].

It is hard to imagine modern Japan without Eglish. Right now, I am sitting at my desuku (desk), or teburu (table) with the rampu (lamp) on, holding my kompyuta (computer), taipingu (typing), making notes with a boru-pen (ball pen). I sip some kohi (coffee) from a gurasu (glass). When I need a break, I move to the sofua (sofa), lean against the kusshon (cushion) and read the nyusu (news) about the latest sekuhara (sexual harassment) incident. Then I turn to the puroguramu (program) on the kararterebi (color television) and watch a homudorama (home drama).

Just as Japanese used to create new words out of Chinese freely, so now it is beginning to create a homemade English [again, bad grammar!!]. Normally, foreign words (including Chinese) are formed into verbs by adding ’suru’ (to do), into adjectives by adding ‘na’ and into adverbs by adding ‘ni’ [uh, bullshit dumbass… where is there a suru or na or ni in Chinese???].

The process of English-absorption going on in Japan today is awesomely inventive.”

It’s not awesomely inventive! Inventing is to create something brand new… this is more like tweaking. But anyways.

It bothers mee that Japanese has soooo many freeking English-ized words. It’s really ridiculous. I know Chinese has some, and Korean has some, but the extent that Japanese has been changed is really quite ridiculous… it bothers mee almost as much as Asian people raised in Asian families who can’t speak… their respective ‘native’ languages.

I’m sure most people would agree that it is a little too many words that Japanese has changed around to make more Americanized.

Oh yeah. Didju know if yur an alien to the United States and yoo don’t carry your green card with yoo EVERYWHERE YOO GO, if yoo get caught, yoo can be deported? Some psycho shit eh?

Well personally if I were an alien I’d rather be deported to Taiwan man… =)
