i’m proud of you, seattle.
lately they have been closing down 4 out of 5 lanes of traffic on I-5 to work on some construction. we all hypothesized that the result would be a complete hell of a traffic nightmare. it’s been two days of work days, though, and it is actually THE OPPOSITE. all the warnings by the news or whoever telling people to use other modes of transportation, like carpooling, biking, the bus, the ferry, etc… seem to actually be WORKING. and that’s amazing. i can’t imagine it working in many places, and i’m really surprised and pleased to know that people in seattle are able to chalk it up and work together to make it okay?! it’s really kind of weird, though. it makes me want to start taking the bus to work, though, which could be a bit of a bitch… i was going to wait until i moved to greenwood to start the bus/bike hike, but this change of events has been somewhat inspirational and i feel like i should start now. i’ll have to look at the route, though, because if it’s really absurd coming from bellevue to belltown… it would just be a waste of time. we shalt see!!!
the SAD part is that people don’t do these things all the time. i mean, i don’t. it makes me feel selfish to be driving when so many other people obviously (?) are not anymore. maybe we should do this all the time. make mother nature happy. one can hope!
