a shuddery moment about tibet.

once in a while you get these WTF moments that are not WTF in the shocking sense; they are WTF in the sense that they make you feel weird… almost like, shuddery inside. i was listening to “democracy now” on the radio, as i try to do every weekday, and they were talking about the whole china and tibet incident that is going on. and they had all these guests on, commenting about the viewpoints of the tibetan people on this matter, and as i was crossing the 520 bridge into bellevue, there was a guy on a footbridge, dressed like a monk, waving the bright yellow, red, and blue tibetan flag. it was pouring rain — not buckets or anything, but a pretty hefty amount. something about that imagery, combined with what i was hearing on the radio, just gave me the chills. it was a weird, weird feeling.
