christianity.

Sunday, June 25th, 2000

Look… if yur a Christian I don’t know if yoo’d want to read this, because… it will probably make yoo think about it a lot because all of it is tru. And if yoo’ve been a Christian for a while and suddenly this all comes flooding to yoo, yoo may not like it… it’ll probably make yoo doubt a lot. Fair warning. If this doesn’t sway yoo at all and yoo want to explain everything I have addressed… well… then I guess yoo have some really strong faith! And props to yoo for that… I really mean it. Actually, I can’t even believe I am writing this because I’ve been a Christian for like… five years now… but I’m still gonna write this…

It’s gotten to a point where I can go to church every Sunday, sing the songs, and even listen to the sermon… but I question nearly every minute of it all. It’s probably cuz I am a weirdo, but I can find SOME way to turn 90% of what is being said in the sermon into a way that makes sense to MEE, but totally goes against Christianity.

OK. Then we’ll start from the beginning of mai routine today. Today is a Sunday, after all. First… we sit there and have a tym of praise or whatever. But why is it that the people who have the best voices are always selected to go on stage and sing? And why is it that so many instruments and things are necessary if what is REALLY important is the words and the “state of people’s hearts and minds”? And, look around. REALLY, how MANY people meditate on the words? Half the people don’t even sing, some are busy harmonizing (oh gosh… they’re taking so much tym to make it sound good… it is very unbelievable that they’re really thinking about the words), and the others aren’t even into the ‘praise’ enough to even stop themselves from looking at the pew behind them when someone else sits down, or to whisper a few things to their friends once in a while, or to ask someone else why he or she isn’t singing. That is NOT praise!! If yoo were going to serenade someone yoo LOVED and your friend John walked happened to see yoo, yoo wouldn’t stop halfway and go “Oh! Hi John! Do yoo like this song?!” But yet it is okay to say such things during ‘worship tym’? Which brings mee to mai other point… how do yoo love something or someone yoo don’t even know? A couple of my friends have said that the song bai Savage Garden, “I Knew I Loved You Before I Met You” was impossible because yoo cannot love someone before yoo meet him or her. Personally, I thought about it a long tym, and I’ve come to the conclusion that yoo can’t love a God that ‘loves yoo so much’ to put yoo on this shitty world. Maybe I am a pessimist, but that is how I feel. Especially since God already KNOWS if or if not yoo are going to Hell or Heaven before yoo even are born. Then for so many people that live HORRIBLE lives… they were just put on the Earth to live horrible lives? That just sucks… supposedly we have a free will, but that doesn’t make sense. God knows EVERYTHING right? Then he should know if we’re going to Heaven and Hell also. How does that WORK?! How is that FAIR?

Some more about fairness, which was addressed in our sermon today… (which by the way, just proves again how contradicting the Bible even is… besides if the Bible was translated SO many times already… who is to say that what we’re reading is even what it REALLY is?! For one… many languages don’t even seperate gender… and we could even be making a mistake about if God is even a He. Seems insignificant, and it probably is, but think about how many other things could be inconsistent!) Okay well… the Bible says stuff like yoo should treat everyone equally and that kind of stuff… but if so WHY is there a CHOSEN group of people?! Just because Jesus was Jewish or whatever? So WHAT. Just because I’m Chinese doesn’t mean if people do mee wrong I am going to cast away everyone else and give the Chinese person a second chance… yoo know? More contradiction? If God forgives everyone, no matter WHAT they do, then WHY was he so angry during the Old Testament? Why did he kill so many people then for worshipping false idols and such? Why did he show himself to them? Okay so in the Old Testament he TALKED to people and made himself be known, and yet some of them still turned away while others believed. Because if the Old Testament people still didn’t believe even though they knew for a FACT that God existed, it would be the same now, and we should get the same opportunity now too!

MORE things I don’t understand?! If God made everything and everything is good, why on EARTH were some animals unclean and others clean? It doesn’t make sense! And what about Judas?! Should he be portrayed as so EVIL if he didn’t have a choice in killing Jesus or not? If he DIDN’T kill Jesus, then the Scriptures wouldn’t have been fulfilled and then the Bible would have just been a bunch of crap… and if he DID kill Jesus, then why should he be thought of as so bad and evil anyway? It was planned. He had no choice. Supposedly he had a free will but either way SOMETHING would have been off. So Judas was a case of a person that had no choice whether or not he was going to Hell, right? He WAS going, or Scriptures wouldn’t have been fulfilled, and that couldn’t have been allowed!

Other stuff that I’ve been thinking about… why are drugs so BAD for Christians (I’ve actually NEVER done drugs but I still think this)? It doesn’t say ANYTHING in the Bible about whether or not drugs are bad… they may be MORALLY wrong, but so what?! That’s just what PEOPLE think. Many PEOPLE think that dyed hair and tattoos and body piercings are MORALLY wrong too, but why are they? Drugs may be bad for yoo physically but woopdie doo, so is junk food =P Okie… well… thas it… I know this last paragraph didn’t have to do with Christianity much but I was just thinking about it ^_^ Oh yeah. And why doesn’t the Bible mention dinosaurs? Hmmm? And why do so many Christians think evolution is impossible? The Bible doesn’t say WHAT the first people looked like or anything… and yoo have to AT LEAST believe in evolution a little… there’s clearly evidence.

Oh psh… and Christians aren’t even that much better than non-Christians… -_- They dun talk any less shit and are not more caring people!!

Okay… well… I think I’ll stop now… this should give yoo MORE THAN enough to think about. I feel really really bad for writing this because I feel bad that I may have shattered someone’s faith or something but I can’t help it…

[RESPONSES TO MY POST]
Hey, I know you’re not a weirdo by all those questions you have, because any logically thinking individual should ask those very same questions. The thing you should understand is that if there is a God, you must do everything you possibly can to gain accurate knowledge about Him.

You should also understand then that there must be only one true religion out there. There can’t be many religions out there teaching different things and all of them being true. There is one truth, so there is only one true religion. If the religion you’re in right now isn’t the real truth, you really should leave it, because they’re obviously not true Christians.
If you’re really interested, I have some information that I want to give you, because I was once in your position too. I had so many questions that didn’t have answers, but then I found the true religion. Please e-mail me back, and I can give you some information toward the truth.

- DAVID

david, i totally disagree that there is only one true religion and only one truth…that is the argument every organized religion/philosophy claims “i am the real truth so listen to meEh and only meEh”…what a bunch of crap…as if the universe is so easily summed up…remember, the english language and most human languages are limited in explaining things that are abstract, so to say there is one truth is a concept that only we humans, with our limited mindset, could come up with…

soOphavi, i don’t think you’re wierd…i am not christian or part of any organized religion…i’ve been to christian retreats and i’ve read taoist literature…i think you are starting to pick out the parts of christianity u like, and discarding the parts that u dislike…i’m sure u know of martin luther, this german guy who lived way back, who decided that there were somethings about the catholic church he disliked (example: he didn’t see why going to church was such a big deal), so he decided to just do what he thought was important (going to church not as important as believing in god with your heart)…i believe that he started the entire trend of different sects of christianity, so u r not being anti-christian at all..

picking and mixing different religions to form your own “religion” sounds like something that you would be more comfortable with…if u would like to talk to meEh more about this and hear my views…please email meEh (make sure u put in the subject line that u wanna talk about God, or i may delete u)…take care

C.K.

Ok. For those of u who r reading this who don’t know me. I AM CHRISTIAN. I believe all the stuff the bible says, and I uphold all my beliefs to the point that I believe it to. But I do NOT like a large number of Christians, for reasons a shall explain. Ok. now. There was this one guy on the shuttle that took us to the airport a few weeks ago. My mom had called and confirmed TWICE that he would be coming a 12:30 (he says absolutely, no problem), and that there would be plenty of room in the car, and that we were gonna be the only ones in the car. Saturday 12:30 rolls by, and he’s not here. He gets here at about 12:45, and guess what, theres luggage already in the car, and someone sitting in front. My mom questions if theres gonna be enough room, and he says I hope so. My mom tells him that he said he drove a big van, and that there was gonna be no one else. He comes up with attitude says “do you wanna sit here and argue or just leave?” and my mom tells him no thats ok, I was just saying what you said. Then he comes up and says “do you just wanna call a cab then?” and my moms like fine fine fine. We get in the car, and we start talking and bitching about it (in chinese tho, so he can’t understand). But then we decide to forget it, since we’re supposed to be on vacation. Then the guy starts preaching to the passenger about christianity and love and how people and getting so corrupt. So we’re like what the fuck???!!! So we get to the airport, and decide not to say anything else. And the guy decides to be a smart ass and starts talking with all this attitude like “maam I got you here so whats the problem? huh huh?”And my mom is like “luckily my son decided to pack a small case or it wouldnt fit. Even though u told me we had a huge van to ourselves.” and the other guy is like “well we’re here arent we? whats the problem then?” and so my mom is like”you preaching all that christian stuff hurts my ears, you with an attitude like this.” and the other guy is like “well at least i can admit my sins, can you? I can face the truth.” and he just goes off and off.

Tell me whats wrong with that picture. There are so many christians like this. They try to preace all this love and kindness and joy, and they are such assholes.

Im not saying im not mean sometimes or whatever, but I dont go around condemning other people of their sins and acting all upright.

And so many christians are like this. Ignorant fools that preach to everyone but only associate with other christianls, close their minds to the outside world and cannot accept ANYTHING else.
They reject anything scientific, on base of the bible, even if the bible itself has not said anything bad about it.

Well i could go on and on but I dont feel like typing anymore. im out.

Hey Viv, I’m a Christian and I believe the Bible from cover to cover. I agree with you on a lot of what you said. A lot of Christians just go to church cause they think its in the rules or something…and a lot don’t realize that praise is important. It is annoying how during praise people talk and stuff, but thats them. Just because they don’t realize the importance of it doesn’t mean that it should drag you down. I see people talking and everything. One Sunday the woman in front of me just stood there the whole time looking around…I mean…a lot of Christians are half hearted. They say they are Christians and are depending on getting to Heaven, but they aren’t into it or whatever. They just think that its about rules and regulations. But if you’re being half hearted then its pointless! And all the fairness stuff and about God knowing who will go to Heaven and Hell, well, I sorta understand it and am sorta confused. I guess that we all have free will, but at the same time, God knows what we will do, that doesn’t mean that He is controlling us or anything, it just means that He already knows our lives. So He knows whether or not we’ll choose Heaven or Hell I guess. And yeah, the Earth can be a horrible place(I won’t say the word you used, the Bible also has some stuff in it about foul language), but thats because of sin. The way I understand it, sin is what perpetuates the bad things that happen and all that. Besides God didn’t promise us a rose garden, our reward is in Heaven.

And about the Bible being translated…well, yeah it has been translated and wrote down and all, but its still accurate. Ok, you’ve heard of the dead see scrolls right??? Well they are like the earliest copy of parts of the Bible that they have or something. I mean they are like really really old, and in them I think there is the complete book of Isiah (which i prolly spelled wrong!), but in the scrolls and the current Bible they had, which prolly wasn’t in english, it was still word for word accuracy. I mean, I’m sure that some things changed a little between translating the Bible from Greek or whatever to English, but its basically the same. And like way back in the day when they would recopy the Bible, they were SOOOOO careful! Get this, they counted the LETTERS like halfway thru copying the Bible, and if they were off by even one letter they would throw away their copy and start over! So it has to be pretty accurate.

Okay, the Bible does mention dinosaurs as a matter of fact. Somewhere in Job it talks about one, it says it has bones of iron and something about a tail like a tree trunk…and like my Bible isn’t a very good translation, and it says that its a Hippo, but like in the King James Version it says Behemoth, so its a dinosaur. And there are some others in there too I think, but I don’t know right off where at. I’ll find the passage in Job and some others if you want. Ok, and by the way, according to the Bible the world is only like 6,000 years old, and yeah it sounds crazy, but there is some really good evidence for it! Hey, check out this website—
http://www.studentministries.net/fbc.htm

When you get there go over to the left where it says evidence for Christianity. Its close to the top, right under where its says Reach, in the green box. Click on it, and read some of the stuff you get too. I mean, there’s all kinds of stuff in there! Maybe it can clear up some of your questions. I mean, I’m not like, Mr. Info, I don’t know all the answers, but hey, my e-mail address is: bdsayers13@hotmail.com So if you wanna talk, ask questions or whatever, e-mail me, and I’ll be more than glad to talk! And by the way, the so called Christians who are so not acting Christ like, well, thats not the way all of us are. Maybe you just haven’t met any Christians who are really walking their talk, but they are around, believe me. A lot aren’t what they claim to be and they give the rest of us a bad name. Hey, I hope you’ll e-mail me…I’ll be praying for you and that God will grant you a deeper understanding and clear your doubts. And I’m not joking about that or just saying it cause its my duty or whatever, I’m serious about it. ~~~~~God bless you!~~~~

modern art = bs as well.

Wednesday, June 21st, 2000

The story of the evolution of art.

Back in the daze people who count paint ‘well’ got famous. Da Vinci, Michaelangelo (sp?), etc.

Then it was the psycho people. Van Gogh, Picasso (oh c’mon yoo tell mee he’s not pscyho… look @ the Guernica!)

Then came the no talent people… thas right… modern art. Sherry recently went a museum in New York, and she came across a painting that was called “Blue”. It was simply a painting that had dark blue on the outside, and the blue slowly faded as it approached the center, leaving a small portion of white in the very middle. While this could have been done in two seconds bai anyone who knew how to shade, it was considered a masterpiece.

And if yoo think that is bad… what about splashing toilets with paint? That’s supposed to be art too?

And even worse… in a museum in England (this was VERY recent news… happened about January or February 2000) had displays of goldfish in blenders. To make the experience seem “more realistic”, the blenders worked, and they were plugged in and everything, with the buttons in easy reach to any visitor walking by. Literally dozens of goldfish were blended to death. What kind of art is that?? It portrays no message. The only message that one can get out of it is what he or she MAKES UP because he or she believes that all art has some symbolic hidden meaning. BS BS BS. It’s like mee spreading concrete on a piece of bread! Just because it’s only slightly out of the ordinary doesn’t make it ART.

vegetarianism.

Monday, June 19th, 2000

Yoo know… I would be a vegetarian if I KNEW it would do any good. But it doesn’t, cuz people suck, so why bother being one? AND the other thing… who are we to justify what kind of food is safe to eat?! I read this article recently about some Chinese restaurant that was closed down because it was selling insects to eat. Sure, it may not sound all that appealing to some of us, but what makes it WRONG to eat insects and fine to eat cows and shiet? Same thing with dogs and cats… we’re not allowed to eat those (in America) but we can eat cows and pigs, chickens and turkeys?! Urrr…

english classes are bs!

Monday, June 19th, 2000

Okay, since it is FINALLY summer, I’m finally out of school and out of mai horrid Honors English class. Why is it that to be in Honors English someone has to pretend to LOVE analyzing shit to death?? And the teachers… they may be nice and all that… but do they really BELIEVE the shit they’re saying?

I have a tonna examples, talkin about the stupid students AND the stupid teachers. This isn’t even all of it. I can rant for hours.

Symbolism shit ~ Okay. So maybe the author put in SOME little thing for symbolism. Unless it comes straight from the author’s mouth though, do we know exactly what the heck he or she is trying to say?? Iss stupid that when someone decides to speak up in class and juss because the teacher doesn’t agree with it, that they juss say “uhh… no.” (Sherry’s teacher) and start ranting about their own ideas. Talk about self-righteous. Anyhoo. I used to write a lot of stories (cuz I wanted to be a writer)… and I still do write fanfics sometimes. And sometimes I’m juss in a mood to throw in things here and there… and for mai LAST fanfic, Contemplation, I realized that yeah, someone could interpret symbolism in it… but… everyone interprets things differently… so who’s to say what’s right and what’s wrong as far as symbolism goes?

Opinionated teachers ~ Oh. Speaking of that self-righteous crap… for argumentative essays… teachers swear that it just matters on how well yoo argue your point and not WHAT your point is. Bullshit. There is one chapter of Grapes Of Wrath that all Steinbeck does is rant about how EVIL the machines in the world are and back during the Dust Bowl all they did was ruin people’s lives. And mai teacher generalized that to say that the author felt ALL machines were evil. Okay. So I wrote an essay saying that it was a buncha bullshit… Steinbeck could not POSSIBLY have thought all machines were evil like she said… I mean it is impossible to find a person that HATED machines and never used them now… and back then the case was the same. I said that Steinbeck was juss using hella metaphors in that chapter to make it SEEM like he believed that and that he didn’t really. It makes sense right? People try to use fancy words and fat metaphors in stories to make themselves sound better. He claimed the “machines were raping the land” and used hella sexual references… I’m juss like WTF… this guy is a pervert… and mai teacher tells mee that “If yoo keep this up yoo’ll fail your AP exams”… like I give a f*ck if it is all this kinda BS. I’d rather let mai opinion be known than to be all fake like the rest of the people in mai class who just make up shiet to kiss ass and make themselves sound ‘educated’.

If yoo don’t AGREE with it, dun say it!! ~ Well, I’m one of those people who never talks in mai English class discussions because I think they’re stupid. They’re just a buncha people trying to compete with each other in how much vocab they can use and how smart they can sound. The like ONLY tym I talked was when we got on some odd tangent and some guy said, “Well… does that mean just because they’re crazy we’re supposed to lock them up? Just because we deem them unsafe they have to be confined to cells?” (And no one in this class sided with him, okay?) So, I was like pissed because I hate that mofo to begin with, so I’m like “So do you think we should juss let a whole bunch of murderers go running around?” And the guy was all surprised cuz I never say anything in that class… and he was like, “No… I was just saying.” I’m like HELLO FoO!! WHY ARE YOO SAYING IT IF YOO DON’T EVEN AGREE WITH IT? Whateva though… ^_^ Thas the end of mai ranting for the day!

self-centered people!

Thursday, June 8th, 2000

I really don’t like self-centered people. Most people dun like cocky people but I don’t have a problem with them; the ones I have a problem with are the self-centered ones. There is a difference. Cocky people, fine, may be annoying and talk about themselves a lot or whatever… but it’s probably cuz they’re GOOD at all the things they talk about. Not very humble, but it is human nature to talk about yourself and to want attention. However, self-centered people are those who, if yoo go out in a group, always want to do things their way and are totally blatant about it. Some may not want to do the thing the rest of the group wants to but goes along anyway (because MOST of the people want to), while self-centered people just refuse to do anything that they don’t like. It dun matter if yur picky when it comes to food and shiet… that has to do with yoo and ONLY yoo… but for stuff that involves a group… iss juss wrong to hold everyone back because yoo dun like a certain thing.
